
Amidst the fear over the resurgence of the second wave of Covid-19, Karnataka Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar ruled out imposing of lockdown,?as of now, in any part of the state.
Sudhakar's?statement comes close on the heels of BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad’s statement on Friday that if the citizens?continue?to violate Covid-19 rules, lockdown may be reintroduced.

On Friday, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner, while addressing the health officials in Bengaluru in the wake of the formation of two clusters and the emergence of South African and Brazilian variants of Covid-19 virus in neighbouring states had warned that the government will be forced to reintroduce lockdown if the current scale of violation of social distancing rule across Bengaluru continues.

Clarifying over the lockdown in Bengaluru or any other part of the state, especially at a time when two neighbouring states — Kerala and Maharashtra — have reported a surge in the number of cases, Health minister Dr Sudhakar said, “Cases have not increased in Karnataka and unlike Kerala or Maharashtra?situation does not demand any lockdown here. Be it partial or complete lockdown, there is neither any such intention nor do any proposal before the state government.”
The minister further added that the state has been scaling up operations especially in the border districts and in Bengaluru to prevent Kerala and Maharashtra-like situation.
